Why do we celebrate Waitangi day

Why do we celebrate Waitangi day?

We celebrate Waitangi day because Waitangi day is a day for the public so that the whole of New Zealand can have a holiday. Also Waitangi day hosts food, music and dancing. On Waitangi day Maori people perform in front of people because Waitangi day is important to Maoris.

All over New Zealand we celebrate Waitangi day. The Maori chief sign the treaty of waitangi and he sign it at Waitangi, the February 6th of 1840. It was signed between Maori chiefs and England. I think England and Maori chiefs sign it because there was the war. James Busby and William Hobson sign the treaty at Waitangi on behalf of the crown, they signed it on February the 6th 1840.
